—— Officially opening of 2012 International Exchange Exhibition of Students’ Innovative Designs in DOBE E-Manor of Xuhui
On the morning of October 23, 2012, the opening ceremony of 2012 International Exchange Exhibition of Students’ Innovative Designs was grandly held in DOBE E-Manor of Xuhui. Many honored guests attended this ceremony, including academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences - Zheng Shiling, Principal of East China University of Science and Technology academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering – Qian Xuhong, Deputy Secretary General of UNESCO "Creative City” (Shanghai) Promotion Office – Xu Peili, Minister of Shanghai Xuhui Propaganda Department – Lv Xiaohui, President of Shanghai DOBE Cultural & Creative Industry Development (Group) Co., Ltd. – Jia Bo, Section Chief of design school of Myongji University - Prof. Liu Hengju, and Dean of School of Art, Design and Media of East China University of Science and Technology (SADMECUST) – Prof. Cheng Jianxin presided over this opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony started with the brief introduction to this international exchange exhibition and the docking platform construction overview between DEBO-SADMECUST and manufacturing industry made by Prof. Cheng Jianxin; and then the President of DOBE – Mr. Jia Bo delivered a greeting speech to welcome the present guests and visitors warmly and described the development of DOBE E-Manor of Xuhui; the Section Chief of design school of Myongji University - Prof. Liu Hengju addressed a speech on behalf of supporting organizations. The ceremony ended with the ribbon cut by attending guests and the exhibition officially opened. After the short opening ceremony, the guests were in high spirits to look around all design works of this exhibition, and appreciated and affirmed the designs!
2012 International Exchange Exhibition of Students’ Innovative Designs, originated from the annual project of “group exhibition of multinational students’ designs” of SADMECUST, has already held successively for six times since June 2007. Some academies attended it in succession, including East China University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Chiba University, Northumbria University, University at Buffalo, the State University of New York, Myongji University, Gwangju University, etc. At the occasion of sixty anniversaries of East China University of Science and Technology this year, the exchange exhibition would serve as one of the celebration series of the School with “inheritance, cohesion, development and share” as theme and “moving by you” as core. This exhibition displayed 90 pieces of excellent designs selected from the East China University of Science and Technology, Myongji University, Northumbria University, University at Buffalo, the State University of New York.
At the same time, the first convening of this international exchange exhibition in creative parks also marked a brand new trail of Shanghai industry-college-institute cooperation. The “DOBE-SADMECUST and manufacturing industry docking platform” jointly built by DOBE E-Manor of Xuhui and School of Art, Design and Media of East China University of Science and Technology was the newly established all-around industry-academy cooperation project at the service of design industry, including design incubation, design service, design exchange, design show, design equity transaction and numerous projects. This platform was expected to become one of important components of “collaborative innovation center of Shanghai creative industry”.
